Norway

My prayers go out to those who were brutally murdered, especially the children, in Norway by terrorists. It is just an awful thing that should not happen to anyone. Yet the world is more concerned about the death of Amy Winehouse or Justin Bieber getting a haircut. Yes it sucks when someone dies, but there are more important things to worry about than a drugged up singer that no one has heard from in the last few years.

So glad that I met this guy years ago. My first concert ever and August Burns Red was just starting off and I am so glad I got to chat with this guy.

Toy Story vs. The Dark Knight

Too funny! And PERFECT!

More Letterpress Printing

Now this video really makes me want to make posters like this!

Playing my drums

I haven't even been on any drums in so long, let alone my own. So I had the urge today during work to come home, set them up and jam for a little bit. And it felt pretty good. Yes, I understand that drumming is NOT my life anymore, art is. But it does feel good to actually drum to my favorite songs and not just air drum. Good way to get a fast workout as well.

So this is "The Cheval Glass" by Emery. Enjoy :)

August Burns Red

It is bands like this that still make me believe that hope can be found through the power of music. I have supported these guys from the beginning and will always support them in everything that they do.

Epic WIN! I'm going to get one later!

Bounce houses

I am at a graduation party for our friend, Amy.

Tradition at her house parties is to get a bounce house and not jump IN it, but jump off the roof ONTO the top of it.

Always a fun time :)

Probably the most true statement that ANYONE can live by...

Quelqu'un M'a Dit

I don't even speak French...and this is a beautiful song.
This makes me want to learn French really bad.
What a lovely voice!
And apparently, this woman is the first lady of France now. Crazy!

Someone told me that our lives aren't a big thing
They pass on the instant as discolour roses
Someone told me that the time that pass is a bastard
that is making topcoats from our grief
However someone said to me...

Refrain

Who do you still love,
This is someone that've told me that you still love me.
Is it possible then?

Someone told me that the destiny is scoffing at us
dont't give us anything and that promise us everything
Appear that the happiness is only for the reach hands
Then they tighten the hand and find themselves crazy
But someone have told me...

Refrain

But who can tell me that today you are loving me?
I don't remember more it was late in the night,
I'm still hearing the voice, but I don't see anymore the point
"He loves you, it's a secret, don't tell him that I tell you"
You see, someone told me...

Who do you still love, he really told me...
Who do you still love, is it possible then?

Oh these two

These two just make me laugh. :)

Roller Coasters & Me

I can admit that I have many passions and/or obsessions in my life:
-Art
-Music
-Computers
-Friends/Family
-Toy Story

But those who know me most, especially since elementary school, know that I am a huge nerd about roller coasters. Living in Southern California has been such a blessing because I have access to some of the best roller coasters in the entire world. Some of them are just minutes away from my house.

However, I didn't always feel this way. I used to have a BIG FEAR of heights (its not nearly as bad now, but it is still a bit intimidating at times with other very tall points). I used to HATE going to thee parks because it meant that I would have to ride these things. I love looking at them and watching videos about them, but would NEVER ride them.

So thus came my epic journey to overcome my fear.

I had to start off small so I start at the easiest place: Disneyland. Granted, Disneyland's roller coasters are nowhere near the size or scale of anything else around here, but those rides hold a place in everyone's heart because they are so memorable, so that is why they are special.

I took on the MATTERHORN BOBSLEDS first.

Then BIG THUNDER MOUNTAIN RAILROAD.

Finally, I rode SPACE MOUNTAIN. SPACE MOUNTAIN took longer because I was scared of riding in the dark, but I got over that pretty quick. SPACE MOUNTAIN still remains a must do at Disneyland for me every time I go.

Then I had to move on to bigger rides. A little closer than Disneyland is Knott's Berry Farm. There, they have a wooden roller coaster known as GHOST-RIDER. It does have a decent size drop at 108 ft., and is one of the only wooden roller coasters you will find in this area (because wooden roller coasters are such a liability in Earthquake Territory). But for my best friend Kevin's birthday back in 2001, or 2002, we went to Knott's and I went on it. Now it is my favorite wooden roller coaster....and it has been 3 years since I have ridden it. Every time I seem to go to Knott's, it is always closed. Bad luck.

Then came the ride that helped me completely erase my fear of roller coasters: GOLIATH at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

This ride is a whopping 235 feet tall with a 255 foot drop that goes underground and reaches speeds of up to 85 mph. Talk about a HUGE leap in conquering my fear. This ride was just too tall for me...but again, I was given some positive encouragement. Kevin and I went again for his birthday in 2003 and I decided that I needed to put this away once and for all. Yes I was utterly terrified to do what I was about to do, but I felt that I had to do this for me. I needed to not be scared anymore and stand up to my fear. So as Kevin and I sat in the seats and started to go up that huge hill, my heart is racing and I'm telling myself "Why are you doing this? What is wrong with you?" But we got to the top, the clickety-clack of the chain began to slow down and we started to face down, and I could see the bottom of the drop.

As we started to go down, I held on SUPER TIGHT, but for a split second, my mind told me, "You did it! It's not scary and roller coasters are your friend! Now raise those hands and have a blast!" So as we pulled towards the bottom of the drop going about 85 MPH, the camera at the bottom just barely caught me in my seat trying to raise my hands (I will find the onride photo for you all to see). I can now say that when I go on that ride, I have no fear. I feel like I am flying and I am just free. There is no way to describe the feeling of sitting in the front seat of that ride, flying at 85 MPH and feeling like you are just flying, leading the rest of the train to a great place. And when you are done, you have all conquered something truly grand.

So finally, after I had no more fear of roller coasters, I decided to really see how far I could go with this passion and tell you all that my favorite roller coaster (now and always) will be CALIFORNIA SCREAMIN'' at Disney California Adventure.

I am pretty positive that all of you have been on that at least once before. I have ridden that single roller coaster...

.........111 times. The most in one day was 7. This total accumulated from having a Disneyland Annual Pass for many years.

To me, roller coasters are like a drug. But it is a kind that actually keeps you healthy. Roller coasters have been proven to make you healthy because the rush of adrenaline that goes throughout your body is pumping more blood to your heart, thus increasing overall circulation. So being scared is a good thing at times because it gives our heart something to work on.

Roller Coasters are my drug. Any chance I get to ride, I certainly will :) I will post up pictures of me riding some of these rides if I can find them. Or if you are really adventurous, watch this video of me riding CALIFORNIA SCREAMIN' to see just how big of a nerd I am.

I love cartoons like this. I wish more of them were made before Disney movies nowadays. Heck I wish Disney went back to stuff like this instead of all the HSM, Hannah Montana crap.

Green Lantern: First Flight

Just opened this past week out at Magic Mountain. I'm pretty positive that this is SFMM's 17th or 18th roller coaster.

Still a weird looking ride, but I still give it a shot next I go out to Six Flags :) Not anything scary at all. I'm just wondering if it would give me a headache with all the spinning.

Beautiful song. Written by SECRET & WHISPER

Old Photos

I was going through some old CDs in my room while cleaning, and on one of the CDs, I found many of my old photographs that I have taken and some taken of me during high school when I was playing A LOT of drums.

The photos that I took were when my buddy Holden and I went down to Laguna Beach and spotted many skimboarders. I have to say that I took about 100 different photos, but these three were my favorite.

I forgot how awesome this movie is. Its amazing how much you can change someone's life by just lending a helping hand.

Sainthood Reps

Tooth & Nail Records signs yet another amazing band. Apparently, a few of these members used to be in Brand New. That makes me excited. This song is just amazing.

The Kiss

Amidst the chaos and disappointment of Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals...and the harsh rioting that occurred afterwards...

one guy still has the romantic ability to give comfort to his girlfriend as she was knocked down by riot police. she was not involved in the rioting whatsoever, but was just simply a tourist who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

See?...Romance is not dead, especially when something like this happens when you can have the most amazing kiss of your life during your scariest moment.

Went to the beach for the first time in a while and it was actually a perfect day to go!

Warm temps (but not toohot) nice breeze (but not a tornado), good company, and bright and sunny.

Perfect day :)

Strange & Unprepared

I finally got to record myself playing this song. Please note...I am NOT a piano player, but I am learning on my own for the summer just to give me something to do. Tell me what you think of it.

The song is "Strange & Unprepared" by Copeland. I posted a version of this sung by the band in an earlier post.

Aquarium

I am a big fan of Space Mountain at Disneyland and I love the music that it has on it. However, I am not too big on the new soundtrack that it has now. I just love the original Dick Dale song that Space Mountain put in when it was first created in 1996, or somewhere around there.

I recently discovered that the song is a Surf-Rock version of the song Aquarium by French composer Camille Saint-Saens. It has a really creepy sound, but almost fanciful at the same time. Here is the original orchestra piece.

And here is the Space Mountain version created by Dick Dale.

D-Day

67 years ago today, 150,000 Allied troops landed on the shores of Normandy, France and begun the liberation of Europe from Nazi control. This is still regarded as one of the biggest, if not the biggest, operations in the history of the world.

I am thinking I should take some time today to watch Saving Private Ryan, my favorite movie that isn't Toy Story. It is the closest portrayal to what that day was actually like. I can't imagine what our world would be like today, had this operation not happened.

We will always remember what those brave men...some of them being my age...did to stop the world of tyranny and oppression.

Finals

I am so ready for this to be over.

Ragtime Piano

Having a Disneyland pass for many years, everyone has something they always love doing when they go there. Of course everyone wants to ride the rides, eat the churros, and get a picture with Mickey. But there was one thing that I always had to do if I went there. At the end of Main Street USA, near the castle, there is this area called the Coke Corner where there is an outdoor ragtime piano set up. Enter a man named Rod Miller...in my opinion, the best piano player I have ever seen in my life. This guy has just been a Disney Legend...all from just tickling the ivories inside Disneyland.

Darth Vader Goes To Disneyland

In honor or the grand opening of Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, I came across this very funny and epic commercial.

Just enjoy :)

Welcome to Zombieland

2005 will always be remembered when Hurricane Katrina (One of the worst natural disasters in the history of our nation) hit New Orleans head on. Even 6 years later, the city is STILL recovering, rebuilding, and trying to bring this great city back to its prime. Little known to a many people, there is a Six Flags New Orleans that was there for a few years. However, when the hurricane hit, it too was affected pretty badly. The park wanted to try and get it reopened after the hurricane had hit.

It never happened. So the park remains a haunting reminder of the devastating power of Hurricane Katrina.

This is a very cool, but shocking video in terms of how much damage there was. I love the great blend of amazing cinematography, haunting soundtrack, and images of a once great theme park. Now it is a real life ZOMBIELAND.

Also, this video is best viewed in HD so I highly recommend it.

A Toast To Bad Taste

Wow...here is an album that I haven't listened to in ages. And I still think it is one of the best albums on my iTunes right now. It sucks that this band (Far-Less) is one of the really amazing bands that had to break up. Such a shame...real talent right here.

Feeling Much Better

I have to say that yesterday was no fun because I was so looking forward to Katie coming home...but a series on unfortunate delays and mishaps at the airport caused her to be stuck in Colorado. I can say that I was not a happy camper when I found that out...but I also couldn't be selfish because things happen for a reason :)

I am doing much better because she is making her way home right now and she be home around 915 or somewhere around there. I am VERY EXCITED.

Once again, I hate it when the good bands break up. Next on the list is As Cities Burn....with a rare live performance of THE WIDOW.

Amazing song and performance.

Yet another beautiful masterpiece by the once (and always) great Copeland. Just a song to "brighten" my mood I guess.

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue

As promise from an earlier post, I would put up a full HD video of a complete walk-through/ride POV of the new and improved Star Tours at Disneyland. Word is so far that the attraction is great and a much needed improvement for the ride. Even though it hasn't OFFICIALLY opened yet (it will on June 3rd), guests have already taken their flights on it and seem to love it. What I like about this new ride is the random variations of each flight so you will never get the same thing twice in a row. I have always said that if they wanted to improve Star Tours, they should make each separate pod go to a different location. This does even better than that by adding even more variations. I'm excited to eventually get the chance to try it out. Who knows...maybe this summer if I can get in a good word with a friend that works there to help sign me in ;)

Lord Stanley's Cup

So it is all set. The Vancouver Canucks vs. The Boston Bruins starting Wednesday June 1st in Vancouver.

Stanley Cup is ALMOST HERE!!!

Tonight is a very crucial game for two teams: The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Boston Bruins. Who ever wins tonight will go on to the Stanley Cup to face the Vancouver Canucks for the Championship. Now this entire season of the NHL was on e of the first times in my life that I ever really gave a darn about any sports and really got into it with statistics and predictability. I even filled out a bracket at the beginning of the playoffs to see who would go to the Stanley Cup. While some of my rounds never happened, I did predict that the Vancouver Canucks and the Tampa Bay Lightning would go all the way to the end to face each other. I am 50% correct on one half. Only after tonight will I know I the other half will make it. In the end, I did predict the Canucks to win the entire thing, however, that is still a few days away until the start of the Cup round.

For tonight, it is all BOLTS baby! I am a fan of the Lightning and I would love to see them go back to the Stanley Cup.

If you want to listen to the game LIVE AS IT HAPPENS, click here:

Ariel's Undersea Adventure

Since I am a HUGE Disneyland person, I am always excited when something new is added to the resort. This next week will be full of exciting things at the Disneyland Resort. For one, Disneyland just premiered their new parade, SOUNDsational, and also soft opened Star Tours: The Adventure Continues. But more will come on Star Tours very soon.

Over at Disney's California Adventure, there has been a new ride under construction for a very long time that I have kept up with known as Ariel's Undersea Adventure (Based on the Little Mermaid). This is a new ride that is modeled after the classic Disneyland dark rides such as Snow White, Pinocchio, and even the Haunted Mansion. It is not anything thrilling of frightening, but it is a great addition because Disney California Adventure is lacking these types of rides for the whole family. So it is nice to see that they are becoming more like Disneyland with something for everyone.

This is a video of the entire ride in full HD taken just this past week.

Very soon, we will have a POV of Star Tours over at Disneyland after it has been upgraded and then comes Carsland back at California Adventure. I am very excited for this next year at the Disneyland Resort.

Retro Poster Design

This type of work is what I LOVE to do with my graphic design skills. I'm greatly influenced by the work of SAUL BASS and his particular style of using various symbols in movies that represent themselves in one small image.

I found this website, www.frodesignco.com, and this guy has amazing work. Exactly what I love looking at. It's almost a fun game to take a look at just the images on the posters and try and figure out what it is without reading the text.

The Cheval Glass

YES YES YES YES YES!!!!

Cheetah Hunt

I LOVE roller coasters and it is easily one of my obsessions in life. I just came across this video of the newest roller coaster at Busch Gardens Africa in Tampa, FL. I have been to this park once before and it is definitely great fun! Lots of great rides and animal exhibits. This of it as a mix of Six Flags and the zoo.

Well they just about opened a brand new roller coaster called Cheetah Hunt that looks really fun. Is it super intense by any means? Not exactly, but its nice to see that they are making a ride that is thrilling for the entire family, but still has the scare factor like other coasters in the park. Multiple launches, lots of underground turns and such. It just looks to be like what a lot of other roller coasters seem to have forgotten to be: just PURE FUN :)

heartbreak

I always cry at this moment :(

Modern Warfare 3

I am not obsessed with video games at all, but I do enjoy Call of Duty from time to time.

All I can say is HOLY _______!

the power of nature

Searching through other people's Tumblr, it's amazing what stuff you can find.

So I found this photo and I was just so amazed and terrified at the same time. It's an awesome sight to behold, but most definitely scary, especially with the overwhelming amount of tornadoes we have had in the last week. And there is still a strong threat today.

My prayers still go out to those in the Midwest that are having to go through this.

Enough said. If you catch American Idol, you will know that you don't need to ever win to make an impact on the music industry.

New Muppets movie coming out this Thanksgiving! :D

By the way, props to them for making a completely fake movie plot at the beginning of the trailer to throw you off for the real movie that the trailer is about. I was not expecting that and I got all excited!

sharpie tattoos

I am obsessed. This isn't my actual arm, but its pretty awesome.

strange and unprepared

Copeland is one of my absolute favorite bands and they have inspired me to try and learn how to play the piano. This is the song that I am learning how to play. It's not difficult by any means, but it's just not easy remember exactly where all the fingers go to which keys they should be on. Plus, singing while playing is hard as well. But I plan to do both of them and hopefully record them or do a video of me playing it. It just takes practice.

On another note, I also love Aaron's (the lead singer) use of the Rhodes Piano. It is such an amazing instrument and I want one really bad. It's very vintage but has such an unbeatable sound and style. If only I was made of money, and yes if I had a job right now.

But I can still dream can't I?

Such a mesmerizing sound

paper lung

Such a beautiful song by a great band...and especially well done with the vocals by Spencer Chamberlain. First time without Aaron Gillespie taking over clean vocals.

Joplin

My prayers and all of the hearts of this country go to the people of Joplin, Missouri and the devastating EF3-EF4 tornado that literally "cut the city in half" yesterday. It is truly a devastating thing to happen to our heartland.

Since I am taking a class on meteorology right now, I understand completely how awful such a thing is. It makes us remember that we can never underestimate the power of nature and what it is capable of creating. It is very difficult to understand the power of a tornado, where it comes from, and what it is capable of doing. It is nature's most mysterious event and quite possible, the most devastating

My prayers go out to you guys.

hockey time!

As you all know, I am a huge hockey fan and the playoffs are more than halfway over and it is getting really exciting.

I am pulling for the Tampa Bay Lightning to take it all the way :)

"Inception-ed"

I swear, these last few nights, I have been having intensely vivid dreams that feel so real. I know they aren't, but it's always fun to wake up and try and figure out what they meant and what they were even about. Certainly no spinning hallways or anything like that, but that would be sweet! The soundtrack to Inception really puts my mind at ease and almost makes me feel smarter when I listen.

I wish I could post the actual scene on here, but I can't. Here is the link though if you want to check it out...but thats only if you haven't seen Inception, which I'm sure all of you have.

Haters gonna hate

But I will still love...

Plain and simple

thank you Carl & Ellie

"Up" is one of my favorite movies ever. And its just one of the first scenes in the movie that is what makes it brilliant. No talking, no sounds, just beautiful images and music. And it shows what true love should really be like. Who needs all that other stupid crap that comes with a relationship when the true happiness found in a relationship comes from spending as much time as you can with your loved one doing really ridiculous, silly things. If they make you smile by just thinking about them, then that is real.

When I think of an UP love, here are my ideas of what Carl & Ellie would do:
- When others say PHYSICAL, Carl & Ellie want to hold hands and cuddle on a blanket looking at the clouds, and a few occasional kisses on the cheek.
- When others say EMOTIONAL, Carl & Ellie want to tell each others true feelings, no matter how crazy they may seem.
- When others say FUN, Carl & Ellie want to sit next to each other in their front room and read books in front of the fireplace.
- When others say MONEY, Carl and Ellie want to spend their extra change that they saved to take a vacation of a lifetime.
- When others say WHY SHOULD I LOVE? Carl and Ellie will both say WHY SHOULD I NOT LOVE?

Thank you Carl and Ellie for giving everyone hope that true love and romance is still out there if people are willing to work and go look for it.

Required for graduation

I just need to vent for a quick second.

Why make students pay to take a required test for graduation, fail everyone, no matter how good they a writer they are, and then make them either take a really hard class, make them pay for test results, and all that stuff?

It just doesn't make sense. It's like this...I want to know what I could do better so I can take the test again and pass.

Sure okay...pay us MORE MONEY and we'll tell you.

But why can't you just tell me?

Because we WANT MORE MONEY, or you can take it again, FAIL AGAIN, and then pay EVEN MORE MONEY to take another class!

Geez. I know everyone feels the same way. Everyone that I have talked to has not passed. And they are good writers

oscar recap & my art stuff

Well I am always a big fan of the Oscars, but then at the same time, it gets kind of annoying to watch when some things that you want to win don't. I was pretty happy with all of the wins, like the King's Speech winning Best Picture and Colin Firth winning as well. The only thing I felt was wrong was the Best Score. The Social Network does have a cool soundtrack and such, but Inception was so epic with its soundtrack, especially that BWWWWAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH sound that we all know from the kick scene at the end.

It almost reminds me of the DONG DONGGG from any Law & Order show.

Oh well. Inception did win more stuff than the Social Network. I'm not dissing the Social Network or anything because I saw it and I really enjoyed it. I just felt Inception was so much better deserving of many things. What made me laugh was that every one of the recipients of the awards for Inception acknowledged Christopher Nolan for all he did for the movie.

I think it was kind of a big MIDDLE FINGER to the academy for not nominating him. Ohhh...but they can nominate James Cameron for his billion dollar movie that wasn't all that great?

Oh well :)

And following that, I've been letting everyone know that I have been selling artwork that I have made. Lately, I've been drawing a lot of architecture stuff from original photographs by myself. Just this weekend, I've drawn Sleeping Beauty's Castle from Disneyland and Hogwarts Castle at Universal's Islands of Adventure:

I'm really sorry...

I have no idea what has gotten into me. No new blog posts after almost 2 months? So much has happened in my life since then.

-I'm almost done with my second quarter at school
-Christmas and New Years were both exciting
-Got to spend time with lots of family
-Just major life changes

I'm going to get back into the hang of posting once a day. Maybe its a way to help vent feelings for the day. I made a YouTube channel, and I thought maybe someday I would be a daily video poster. But that is very tough based on the fact that I get too crazy with the editing instead of keeping it simple and I don't really have a great working camera for video.

So this will have to do for now. But it's much easier because it doesn't take much time to do, and it almost seems more personal for some reason.

Cheer up as Spring is coming :)
