I was going through some old CDs in my room while cleaning, and on one of the CDs, I found many of my old photographs that I have taken and some taken of me during high school when I was playing A LOT of drums.
The photos that I took were when my buddy Holden and I went down to Laguna Beach and spotted many skimboarders. I have to say that I took about 100 different photos, but these three were my favorite.
They have done it again. New album, LEVELER, is intense. Love these guys, met them all years ago when they just started, would LOVE to go see them again.
Tooth & Nail Records signs yet another amazing band. Apparently, a few of these members used to be in Brand New. That makes me excited. This song is just amazing.
Amidst the chaos and disappointment of Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals...and the harsh rioting that occurred afterwards...
one guy still has the romantic ability to give comfort to his girlfriend as she was knocked down by riot police. she was not involved in the rioting whatsoever, but was just simply a tourist who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
See?...Romance is not dead, especially when something like this happens when you can have the most amazing kiss of your life during your scariest moment.
I finally got to record myself playing this song. Please note...I am NOT a piano player, but I am learning on my own for the summer just to give me something to do. Tell me what you think of it.
The song is "Strange & Unprepared" by Copeland. I posted a version of this sung by the band in an earlier post.
I am a big fan of Space Mountain at Disneyland and I love the music that it has on it. However, I am not too big on the new soundtrack that it has now. I just love the original Dick Dale song that Space Mountain put in when it was first created in 1996, or somewhere around there.
I recently discovered that the song is a Surf-Rock version of the song Aquarium by French composer Camille Saint-Saens. It has a really creepy sound, but almost fanciful at the same time. Here is the original orchestra piece.
And here is the Space Mountain version created by Dick Dale.
67 years ago today, 150,000 Allied troops landed on the shores of Normandy, France and begun the liberation of Europe from Nazi control. This is still regarded as one of the biggest, if not the biggest, operations in the history of the world.
I am thinking I should take some time today to watch Saving Private Ryan, my favorite movie that isn't Toy Story. It is the closest portrayal to what that day was actually like. I can't imagine what our world would be like today, had this operation not happened.
We will always remember what those brave men...some of them being my age...did to stop the world of tyranny and oppression.
Having a Disneyland pass for many years, everyone has something they always love doing when they go there. Of course everyone wants to ride the rides, eat the churros, and get a picture with Mickey. But there was one thing that I always had to do if I went there. At the end of Main Street USA, near the castle, there is this area called the Coke Corner where there is an outdoor ragtime piano set up. Enter a man named Rod Miller...in my opinion, the best piano player I have ever seen in my life. This guy has just been a Disney Legend...all from just tickling the ivories inside Disneyland.
2005 will always be remembered when Hurricane Katrina (One of the worst natural disasters in the history of our nation) hit New Orleans head on. Even 6 years later, the city is STILL recovering, rebuilding, and trying to bring this great city back to its prime. Little known to a many people, there is a Six Flags New Orleans that was there for a few years. However, when the hurricane hit, it too was affected pretty badly. The park wanted to try and get it reopened after the hurricane had hit.
It never happened. So the park remains a haunting reminder of the devastating power of Hurricane Katrina.
This is a very cool, but shocking video in terms of how much damage there was. I love the great blend of amazing cinematography, haunting soundtrack, and images of a once great theme park. Now it is a real life ZOMBIELAND.
Also, this video is best viewed in HD so I highly recommend it.

I seriously pulled an all-nighter in order to finish my final project for my design class.
But it was worth it because I got it all done and it looks exactly how I envisioned it :) Many MANY hours of work, especially on Woody. He and everything else around him looks great though.
And if you just visited that page for the first time, that is my new ART BLOG where I can post all my work. Please follow it and spread the word about it if you haven't already :)
Wow...here is an album that I haven't listened to in ages. And I still think it is one of the best albums on my iTunes right now. It sucks that this band (Far-Less) is one of the really amazing bands that had to break up. Such a shame...real talent right here.
